I've seen interviews with Don Henley when he says THE Eagles as well.
Quite a few compilations' covers call them THE Eagles. That may be a record company's fault but whatever. It's an outrage on a thread that spells Glenn Frey's name wrong, isn't it??

I personally am well aware of that, but my grammar head makes it very hard to leave out the 'the' that is just screaming to be included when putting it in a sentence.
I choose to make the mistake rather than write a sentence that looks wonky.

Always loved the story about how him & Don Henley were so fed up with listening to Jackson Browne (who lived below them) playing half of Take it Easy over and over again they went down and finished it for him.
